2006 at Fields Pond
Birdwalk:
The annual Steve Coleman birdwalk for the visually impaired took place at Fields Pond Nature Center of Maine Audubon on May 13,
2006. Thirteen people participated including blind persons, support persons, teachers, and friends. Assistance and support
was provided by NHEST, Inc. and Penobscot REACT.
Communications:
Following the birdwalk, four participated in a discussion of radio communications, family preparedness, and blindness.
Blind participants discussed communications issues and evaluated the advantages they would have over sighted family members in
case of such events as power outages.
