Keep right up-to-date on the weather with NOAA weather radio. NOAA is the source of the warnings and watches issued through local broadcast stations. These will generally be heard first on NOAA weather radio. It is available throughout the country on specified FM frequencies. Weather radios can be purchesed inexpensively at electronics outlets if your general scanner won't pick up those frequencies. The actual weather radios may be more easily operated by feel, also. Mine has an on-off and three clickable settings to check for the nearest and loudest NOAA broacast.
